Kirkwood meets the Cotswolds

Drawing Inspiration from our Favorite Places

In our recent project, we sought to infuse the timeless charm of the Cotswolds into a unique space—the laundry room. Our vision began with the decision to adorn the ceiling with whimsical floral wallpaper, reminiscent of the quaint English countryside cottages that dot the region. This choice not only added a touch of enchantment but also served as a captivating focal point above the utilitarian area.

To complement this ethereal backdrop, we opted for natural colors such as rich burgundy and deep green throughout the decor. These hues were carefully selected to harmonize with a classic checkered tile floor, evoking the cozy ambiance of Cotswolds cottages. These rich tones not only brought warmth to the room but also echoed the natural beauty found in the Cotswolds landscape.

For storage solutions, we introduced high gloss green metal built-ins, combining functionality with a modern twist. This choice not only provided ample storage space but also mirrored the verdant hues of the Cotswolds' rolling hills, infusing the room with a fresh and vibrant energy.

A vintage-inspired sink added a nostalgic touch, blending seamlessly with the timeless aesthetic we aimed to achieve.

Enhancing the room's connection to the outdoors, we installed a Dutch door as an inviting and cozy entrance from the client's garden. This charming feature not only enhances the room's functionality but also adds to its welcoming atmosphere, bridging the indoor and outdoor spaces seamlessly.

To maximize both utility and aesthetic appeal, a fanciful ladder was incorporated into the design. This versatile addition not only facilitated easy access to higher storage areas but also contributed to the room's character as a decorative element with a storybook charm. Its presence added a magical touch, further enhancing the Cotswolds-inspired ambiance we sought to create.

By carefully integrating these elements into our design process, we were able to transform a functional space into a charming retreat that captures the essence of the Cotswolds—inviting, timeless, and rich with personality. Our journey through this project has reaffirmed the beauty and versatility of Cotswolds style, inspiring us to continue exploring new ways to infuse our designs with its enduring allure.
